West Wits MLI (Pty) Ltd (West Wits) appointed OMI Solutions (Pty) Ltd as the independent Environmental Assessment Practitioners to facilitate the Environmental Authorisation Process in support of the proposed West Wits Prospecting Right Application. West Wits has applied to the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) for a prospecting right for gold, silver and uranium over various farm portions and erfs targeting the potentially gold bearing conglomerates (reefs) of the Central Rand Group, Witwatersrand Supergroup. All prospecting activities are planned to be non-invasive and will include a desktop review of historical mine information, concept level mine design and generating geological models, and conducting financial and engineering feasibility/ viability studies. The planned prospecting activities are all desktop bound studies with no invasive or physical prospecting activities proposed to take place on site. The proposed prospecting right area stretches over an area of approximately 600 ha in Bram Fischerville in the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality in the Gauteng Province. The proposed prospecting right area is located approximately 12 km to the south-east of Krugersdorp, approximately 4 km north of Soweto and approximately 5 km south of Roodepoort.
