Bengwenyama Draft EIA & EMPR

Miracle Upon Miracle Investments (Pty) Ltd (MUM) proposes to develop an underground mine and associated supporting infrastructure on the Farms Nooitverwacht 324 KT and Eerstegeluk 327 KT, situated proximately 7 kilometres (km) west of the town of Steelpoort and 22 km southwest of Burgersfort, in the Limpopo Province. The underground mine and associated supporting infrastructure are termed ‘Bengwenyama Underground Mining Project’.

MUM is a holder of Preferent Prospecting Right number LP30/5/1/1/3/2/1/002PPR (002PPR) on the Farms Nooitverwacht 324 KT and Eerstegeluk 327 KT. 002PPR was granted for the minerals Platinum Group Metals (PGMs), gold, copper, chrome, cobalt, silver and nickel in accordance with section 104 of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, 2002 (Act No. 28 of 2002) (MPRDA), as amended.

In terms of the requirements of the (MPRDA) as amended, a Mining Right Application (MRA) must be submitted to the Competent Authority (CA): Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE), for the proposed Project. In support of the MRA, a full Scoping and Environmental Impact Assessment (S&EIA) process must be undertaken in accordance with the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations (Government Notice Regulations (GN R) 982 of 2014, as amended) promulgated in terms of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act No. 107 of 1998), as amended (NEMA).
